I'm not sure if this is acceptable, so apologies if not and will understand if this post is deleted - but I just wanted to bring attention to a 'basic' programming language; basic as in simple to use, rather than BASIC I'm referring to Logo - great fun for kids and their parents. This is a really good Logo website with lots of fun lessons for you and your kids to enjoy Turtle Academy

Logo. I remember using Logo K on my old Amstrad cpc464. Keyed in the listing and ran the examples. Fascinated by the shapes that were coded. Dog-slow compared to Logo these days. Sitting in front of the monitor watching and waiting for the results. Enjoyed every minute. Thank you for the memories....

johnno56 I remember we were building something like LOGO in SmallBASIC, it's just like Basic Draw strings (for the little proggie or subroutine) along with a few global variables to track position, color, angle, step size, scale, home (center), alternate home points, and pen up/down. You could move relative to the position you are at or to absolute screen positions. I think I had it boiled down to one routine with helpers and you could draw solid squares and circles at point you were at. Yeah, I think I posted an early version translation at SdlBasic forum when felix was fiddling with same. A string of letters and digits becomes a little drawing program that you could create and from which you build more complex programs.
